Return to Staff Page

Rich grew up in Boise, Idaho and since the age of 12 he has been a fishing and hunting fanatic. He began bird hunting at age 12 and the next year began fly fishing on the Boise River and Silver Creek in the Sun Valley area. Rich moved to Bozeman, Montana in 1992 where he attended Montana State University. At 20 Rich started his guiding career in Colorado guiding fly fisherman on the Roaring Eagle River and similar notable waters. He guided for several years around the Bozeman area, namely on the Yellowstone and Madison Rivers up until making the move back to Idaho.

Rich came to the Flying B Ranch 12 years ago and has been guiding guests on land and water ever since. His reputation precedes himself and he is known as being one of the most skilled and knowledgeable guides on the Clearwater River. Similarly, he has been training bird dogs and guiding wing shooters for years and is commonly requested by our return guests.
He lives along the Clearwater River outside of Kooskia with his 4 year old daughter Madison and his well known bird dogs Jazz, Sy-COE, Jed, and Daisy. Madi is following in her father’s footsteps and caught her very first steelhead last fall while fishing with her Dad, Grandma, and cousin.
