Head Chef Ryan Nelson is an Idaho native—born and raised in a small town in southeastern Idaho called Soda Springs. Growing up he had aspirations of becoming a golf pro which brought him to Boise Idaho to learn the game and play more. During his time in Boise he came to realize he could not golf as much because his severe addiction to fly-fishing. After fishing many streams throughout Idaho he realized his home should as close to the Clearwater River as possible. His passion to chase those “B –Run” steelhead 6-7 months of the year became a reality when he joined the Flying B Team.

Ryan has been in the restaurant business since the age of sixteen and has worked with some very talented chefs over the years. He has a tool chest of recipes that exceed our guest expectations as he is requested often for our backcountry camps. Ryan prepares all sorts of wild game cuisine and does some amazing things with upland birds. He has a taste for wine and always has the perfect bottle selected for the evening dinner.    Ryan is the proud owner of the ranch mascot “Gunner”.
