Scott Van Winkle

Scott has been working in the industry of hunting and outdoor recreation since the age of 14. Growing up in Eastern Oregon, he first learned to hunt from his father and soon, thereafter, realized that he wanted to turn it into a career.
Scott came to Idaho in 2001 at the age of 18 to pursue his college degree in business and hope to work for one of the greatest hunting lodge destinations in the world. He came to the Flying B Ranch with his two bird dogs almost 10 years ago and has remained a valued team member ever since.
Through his mentor and predecessor, Joseph Peterson, Scott learned a great deal about backcountry big game hunting, Idaho’s vast wilderness, and using mules/ horses to access some of the most remote wildlife havens in the lower 48. Once Scott became a University of Idaho Alumni, he came on full time and has remained at his dream job ever since. The most enjoyable part of Scott’s job is that he gets to meet and interact with a very diverse group of hunters from all over the world. Many guests have become loyal Flying B hunters because of the guides and team members like Scott that make you feel like part of the family.
Scott’s passion for the outdoors and hunting can be seen through his desire to guide and teach others the dynamics of hunting, venture into God’s great creations, and engrain conservation ethics among all sportsmen.
